Hi All,
Just asking if anyone knows what the offspring of these 2 Gouldians would produce ?
I cant find the "Aussie YB" in that genetic mating indicator !!

I'm not entirely convinced that the hen is an AY (here we go again  :? ). Looks more like EY to me. Can you get a better picture of her back?

To use the genetic calculator pretend that the AY is a blue as the inheritance pattern is the same, then any blue young re-interpret in your brain as AY.

BTW, don't use the term "Aussie Yellow Back" as it's not a yellow back, its an Aussie Yellow that helps avoid confusion with European Yellow also called Yellow back.

If I'm right about the hen then all cocks will be SF EY split AY and all the hens will be normal green split AY.

The first normal young from these two birds will prove categorically that she is EY so given a general 50/50 split M / F you should know within a clutch or two.

All young will be RH/YH as the YH is a also genetically red head but without the red visually as a result of the two YH genes it is carrying so RH + YH will always yield RH unless RH is also split for yellow.

Actually, because hen is EY all cocks will be SF EY split AY and all the hens will be normal green split AY.

If you have a choice don't use that pairing as in time the yellows will get lost in each other unless you keep very careful records. Use a normal / AY or AY hen for cock so all birds will be either AY or normal / AY, use a SFEY or DFEY for hen to maximise EY.
