As jay said they are fine, birds can nibble leaves and it won't hurt them I use them for perches mainly with a bit of the leafy sections placed in holders along the wall for some privacy, the only issue I've found with using eucalyptus branches is trying to get the drop bears out of it they always have the best branches.

Yes ive always used gum branches over the years with no probs also manaka too.
drop bears? say what?
