My stars are nesting in a cane basket this time around. Their, previous 5 attempts have been in brush.

nearly always build their own nest and usually in a fairly secluded part of the brush. can only remember mine using a cane nest once in numerous nesting efforts. whatever you do don't even touch the nest, once I accidently touched a nest with chicks only a few days to go before fledging and they deserted the chicks, just not worth the risk.

If in a grassy aviary mine prefer to nest in the grasses, if poor grass options they go into brush.

My Yellow Stars loved nesting in wire cylinders stuffed with course grasses. These cylinders were placed horizontally along the back wall just under the ceiling.
A world without birds is a world not worth living in :)
