Have you noticed the advert on the Petshopone site (the new name for Birds R US)? It says "Coming Soon Frozen White Ants". Is there anyone in or around Cessnock that can ask then when, how much and how reliable the supply will be? Sounds like every lazy finchos wet-food dream.

frozen white ants are now for sale its $10.00 for a tub . but if you buy bulk amounts you recive a nice discount. for fright it will be $10-20 per box sent (each box can hold 35-45 containers)

these work really well this is what i use at home and it saves a heap of time and the birds love them

Just checked out the petshopone website. It says a 700mL container of sifted termites for $10. Depends on what "sifted" means but if it's 700mL of actual termites then it's a real bargain. Harvey can you let us know just how well they are sifted or better still maybe someone can provide a close up photo.

they are quite well sifted mate most of the container is ants about 5-10% is dirt but most is ants

If the termites are that clean then thats a great deal,i think you might have trouble keeping up the demand though Cheers Craig

the reason i was of was my old pc got hacked so i had a big issue get emails back ect.

i love the white ants i have been using them for ages , the shops has just gone public about it ,
there great saves alot off time with live food ,
have you ever tried them mate

Harvey,a couple years ago i bought a termite tumbler and tumbled a couple of mounds thinking the two species i keep would benefit from them.I was told to keep a few live ones to add with the frozen ones to cox the birds to eat them.
I did this for weeks and the birds wouldn't touch them prefering to eat maggots and mealworms,so i gave up but i have still got 7 tubs in the freezer and i think they would be pretty stuffed by now.
I'm hanging on to the tumbler as i'm pretty sure the next specie i go on to will need them to breed. Craig

Interesting as I regularly feed frozen termites when I run out of live ones and they all seem to eat them without an issue. I wonder if it's because mine are sort of addicted to the live termites so they hook into frozen rather than go without. I'd say live termites are best, followed by frozen termites and then maggots.

Feeding live is the best but frozen is so much easier
