Would someone know what is going on with a couple of my canaries,
they are kept in outdoor aviaries along with some of my finches, they eat
and fly around ok but sit puffed up like tennis balls, their vents are clean
and have recently been wormed.I have taken them inside to breeding cabinets
where it is not so cold, they seem quite happy but still puffed up.
Has anybody got any ideas what it could be.

Canaries and in fact most birds fluff their feathers up to trap heat to keep warm and in summer(hot weather) the feathers are drawn close to the body to keep the heat out so what you are seeing is quite normal. Craig

Thanks all, I do see logic in what crocnshas (Craig) is saying, I can rule out air sack mite as i've
treated them also for it.Bring on spring.
