Are red browed finches as skittish or as hyper active as double barred finches?

We've always found redbrows to be skittish, flying around first and fastest when we approached the aviary. I've always thought they were peaceful until I put them in with the superb wrens, they defended the live food bowl very very vigorously, to the extent of two redbrows chasing and pinning down three wrens - not just chasing them off but continuing the fight. I've never ever seen redbrows behave like that before. Needless to say, they are no longer in the wren flight for their own protection ;-) .

This pair came from Gomer - maybe it's something he taught them  .

Never had double bars so can't comment on them.

mine seem active, but not shy, mine are the second most curious after the parrot finches. Second most likely to fly away when I go in :P
depends on the birds and the aviary setup I guess.

I would agree they are fast in an aviary, but skittish I leave that to wild caught ones that bang into wire etc..

Only have Lessers & find them very settled & non-skittish aviary birds.

This is how skittish my red brows are ..I was digging a hole to plant some reeds and stoped to answer the phone and they were down in a flash to have a look.

Thanks for the replies. I have painteds, longtails and double bars. My painted and longtails are very calm, my double bars go pshyco everytime I go in or near the aviary. Makes me wonder if they are aviary bred or wild trapped. Still not sure about the red brows, might have to have a serious think about them.
Thanks
David

I found they were the first down to anything new and if i entered with a rake they would land as soon as there was some fresh turned soil or leaf litter.Very quiet (lessers)

My experiences with redbrows has been that they are very peaceful, mix in any collection.
Usually become very tame.
I have found that they will breed well once they start.
