New cat problem

Hi guys haven't posted here in a while but I have now come across a bit of a problem.
At first I originally thought it may have been a rat in around the aviaries because of my dog going crazy but just this morning I was looking out the window to check on some zebbies in some breeding cages and there it was, a bugger of a cat comes out of no where is eyeing off the birds. The cat will never get in the cage of course it is well protected but I'm afraid the cat will give them a heartertack or something which I don't need cause they have fertile eggs at the moment.
My dog was no bloody good this morning either just around the other side in her bed, I got her up very quietly to show her around to where the cat was and boom it was off. Dog didn't get it but I'm certain it will be back again. as I said earlier the cages aren't possible to get in especially for a cat but I was hoping if I could give it some sort of message to say, stay away!! Something like that.

Find out who's it is and politely ask them to lock it in their own yard, failing that trap it and take it to the pound....(I wont say what I would do too many cat lovers on here)

I have never seen this cat in my life. I'm pretty sure no one in the street owns cats so thats why I may be thinking its either a ferral or a cat from another street.

Then I would trap it and send it off to pound then..

Be friendly to it , catch it and chuck it out to the pound .
Shove it in the night box if you must just get the mongrel thing away from your birds ....

Cat lovers ....if you loved your cats they wouldn't be roaming the streets . Simple .

This my opinion
Hope I don't upset anyone but I reckon Peoples Cats should live in aviaries like our birds if they want them outside or in there own owners house not in someone else's place.Its not fair on the Native Wildlife as well as a problem like this.

You will need three items to take care of this problem

1 a Hessian sack
2 a brick
3 a bucket of water or a creek

We have a cat that patrols our street at night setting my dog off, freaking my birds out and get this tipping my bin over (yes its a cat I have seen this happen).

I am going to put a nice letter in the owner mail box asking them to keep it in at night for its own safety if nothing else.

Failing this the cat will be trapped.

If you were to let you dog out all night and ran a muck I am sure no one would hesitate in having it locked up..so cat owners should do the bloody same.

Good luck with it, in case you couldn't tell this is a sore point for me atm

Went Outside this afternoon to check if there had been any sign of a cat again and there was a big yellow piss all on the ground right next to the breeding cages. I know it's definately not my dogs. Somethings about to hit the fan tonight if I get my hands on this cat.

One of my pet hates (and I have many!) is people who do not keep their animals on their own land. Speak nicely to your neighbours telling them of your problem, if they won't do anything to keep their cat away from your birds, using excuses such as "That's what cats do" (Not in my place they don't!) Then you must take matters into your own hands by following one or more of these options.

1 Rent/buy a cat trap and keep trapping their cat and taking it around to the cat/dog pound. It will cost them every time they have to bail it out. You can shortcut this by getting them to pay you the 'bail' money, saving both of you time and petrol money etc.

2 Buy/borrow a Doberman and put it over their fence to 'play' with their cat. If they complain tell them "That's what dogs do!!!!"

3 Set lots of rat traps on top of the aviary baited with Snappy Tom (with emphasis on 'Snappy") or the like, to give some aversion therapy.

4 Set up a sprinkler on top of your aviary and turn it on from the house every time you see cat on there.

5 Erect an electric fence wire around top of aviary or along your dividing fence (can be bought at produce stores) More aversion therapy.

6 One thing you must never do is give the cat a bowl of milk with dissolved aspirin in it as it is usually fatal.

7 The other thing you must never do is kill the cat, humanely of course, (method optional) and put it out on the road for the traffic to run over all night, then share their sorrow in the morning that pussy must have run out onto the road.

8 Option 7 can backfire as they will probably get another cat, in which case go back to option 1.

I hope this has helped with your current problem as I too have had this situation and have managed to solve it one way or another .
