Not sure about SA Birds, might be able to give more info after Saturday as Im planning to go there...hopefully. I think Ive seen bags of swamp grass type stuff at Camsal, but it would pay to ring and check, no idea on prices. What about Petstock?

If you do go to SA bird company Plz let me know ASAP as I'm out of material and my birds are going crazy with breeding.

Mike if their that desperate, give them some fine couch grass runners, green pannic grass, they will eat the green seeds and use the rest for nesting, you don't have to buy nesting grass they will use any sort of grass, green or dry. Cheers Craig

I just cut all types of grass from down the paddock and the birds love it. There must be some overgrown council land near you that can be attacked. Most of my finches prefer a range of freshly cut green stuff anyway.

The problem is I pick some grass from the garden (long strands) give it to the birds (making sure there is no bugs) and they just chew on it instead of using for their nest.

I just looked up couch grass, and that's the grass I was talking about in the post above this one, they don't seem to nest with it.

As your weaather warms in spring they should be turned on to breeding. My Zebs are not breeding at the moment on the Gold Coast.
