Do Red Siskins require live food when breeding, reading different
stories from different web sites. On says they only eat Niger & Sunflower kernels!

They don't need livefood for breeding, however they do love to eat green aphids off milk thistle heads before eating the thistle seeds. Some pairs do get used to taking other livefood whilst feeding young but they take a while to do so if not used to it. I've had the occasional pair take termites regularly but this was not the norm.

Thanks for replies, I have a good supply of maggots and mealworms so I'll try them.
