Wrong. Definitely breed far better with a dependable supply of livefood. Ideal colony species though. In fact, Cutthroats are one of very few species which I'd say are ideally kept as a small colony of their own kind & no others.
Your Aussie Cutthroats must not be tough like good old Kiwi Cutthroats I have 2x 3 Pair Colonies one Colony has raised 35 chicks and other has raised 30 chicks and on no livefood but just chick starter and good healthy chicks and way cheaper than livefood
Doesn't really compare to good ol wrigglies. Both species CAN be bred without live food (seen it done many times, especially with Cubans) but the question is whether or not it's worth providing it to do better with them (the proceeds from which can help fuel more live food production!)
