If you're so inclined, your local museum would be very interested to know about it; where and when and why it died.
Call the Queensland Museum (Corner of Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Bank Brisbane QLD 4101
(07) 3840 7555) and ask how to contact the curator of mammals.
I would refrigerate but not freeze the body until I spoke to the relevant person.
I would love to see one.

Matty your chances of seeing a drop bear increase dramatically if you bait them with Bundaberg Rum on your breath ....

I rescued 2 of these at different times years ago at my parents place.
Both times were exactly the same circs.
Just on dusk.
Little Wattlebird attacked the "mouse" & it fell to the ground from the crown of Bangalow Palms & immediately set upon by the Heeler. Dog yelled at to drop it. Picked up the stunned little creature. Wiped off the dog slobber & let it recover for a few minutes until all was ok. Then released back onto the trunk of another tree & it shot off up the tree.
Beautiful little animals.
I know a few people around here who have also seen them around their yard. Each time was in or around Bangalow or Alexandra Palms.
