Gouldians

Is there anyone local in or around Melbourne, Australia who breeds Gouldians? Would like to connect to discuss breeding techniques.
I have breed one nest this year but had to stop them due to an instance of air sac mite. Both chicks O.K. and after a trip to the vet I am now treating my aviary. The father is a white chested red headed green and the mother is a white chested black headed green. Chicks are still green and just starting to colour up.

I have a small collection of Gouldians to start with. I prefer the green bodies Gouldians over the yellow. I like the stronger colourations this breed has. I can spend too much time sitting and watching the little critters.
They are very relaxing and amusing to watch.

I have a local cat that loves to watch my Gouldians, although they don't like the cat much. They tend to get very nervous so I have started to spray the boundary fences with a spray that should repel it.

I prefer the orange head over the yellow head due to the stronger colourations.
I'm looking for some more stock namely orange headed Gouldians to breed with my existing orange headed Gouldians. I am looking for a pair of white chested orange head greens and a pair of purple chested orange head greens.
Can anyone help who is local?

hi, i got to know a gentleman through a local news paper who had all his birds stolen, i helped get him get started again by giving him 5 young gouldians and a few shaft tails(long tailed finches), RF parrot finches and since then we have been very good friends. as good friends we swop and offer each other birds (no money and no profitering or quarreling), we share knowledge and help each other with bird food, nesting stuff or what ever we need. we share fuel money to go to places to buy new birds so the journey costs much less than if we'd have to go it alone. the point i am making is that i is good to look for someone local who you can trust, who shares the same interrest in the same types of birds and be honist with each other. you can build up a very nice stock between you for less than half the price. you can swop breeding partners of birds to help bring new genes into your collection. when our chicks have offspring we usually share the chicks between us. i have ended up with some very nice birds to my collection and increased my gene pool for them by simply sharing.
i hope you find what your looking for :)

I know what you mean about the OH/YH. I have to keep reminding myself that my birds are termed YH because they most definately are OH. I have from the start selected the richest orange colouring to keep in my breeding stock. And for outcrosses.
