I candled my Zebra finch eggs to see how well they are developing. They seem to be doing well. The problem I'm having is I don't know when the pair started incubating. So here is were I need someone more experianced, Could you be able to estimate how many days these eggs have been incubated by looking at them? Here are some pictures. Thank you all very much!

This egg was laid on the 7th.

What I think on how developed eggs are:

egg 1 - 9 days
egg 2 - 7 days
egg 3 - 5 days

I have never found it easy to candle..always got nervous with the good old budgie eggs.

Its funny how simple the birds start out

Try candling through the rounded end of the egg (where the air bubble is)- you'll be able to see the development a lot more clearly.

The 9th and 11th August eggs definitely look fertile. But the 7th August is questionable based on the pics?

Thanks. I've candled the eggs through the air cell but the flash light I have makes it to hard to take a picture when I hold it at the air cell end. The egg laid on the 7th had movement yesterday but I haven't candled them today. The chick is filling up the egg and making it harder for me to get a good picture of it.

The egg that was laid on the 7th air cell is tilted. I'm very excited. How long do finch eggs take to hatch after the air cell is tilted?

12 to 14 Days to hatch , the more you touch the eggs the less chance they will hatch , leave them alone .
