Can THIS go with THAT ?

A place to ask about Australian Finches in general.
For example: Questions about more than a single species.

What kind of Mannikins are they? As distinct from the bengalese. If they are another species of mannikin/munia other than bengalese & you don't know the sexes of either, you are running a very high chance of hybrid production.

Oh good. I am not the only one that noticed that Mannikins and Bengos, who will very easily hybridise, were mentioned as possibly going in the same avairy. :petrified: I would not do it. :petrified: Because I made the mistake some years ago of letting Chestnuts and Bengos share an avairy. With very pretty hybrid results. All died of old age in my holding avairy. And I thought "This goes with that at Suzannes" Suzannes for the younguns was a popular ladys clothing store trying to get us to mix and match our gear.

Ah Yes, i DO remember Susan's and that darn annoying ad that you cant get out of your head !!! Man, i can be so blonde sometimes
And its good the mannekin / bengalese subject was bought up, because the pet shop lady told me they are one and the same, but i WAS wondering about that :wtf:
There are some photos of my mannekins in a thread i posted a while back titled " Been bitten by the finch bug! Male or Female pls ? "
If anyone cares to have a look ? , and tell me if it is in fact ok or not ok to put my mannekins and bengalese together ??
Glad i asked advise !
Thank you to those that have replied, much appreciated !! :)

Those mannikins are bengalese, unless you mean the OBs or longtails?

I am still new to this, now i am confused :? !! Bengalese, Munia and Mannekin are all sort of the same species? Lonchura ?
The light brown and white finches in the " Bitten by the Finch bug " area, i was told are MANNEKINS.
The dark brown and white in " My new finches - Cutthroats and benagalese " i was told are BENGALESE.
So, are they in fact of the same species then ??
If so, that means they be ok to go in same Aviary then ? No hybridising ??
Hang about, i see if i can get a photo of each with this post.

Both the above pics are Bengalese or Society finches....Cuthroats and them are both known as being in the mannikin family
