I wonder who's nest this is?

I found a half built cup nest this morning in my aviary.

Needless to say I am trilled but I can't pick who has built it.

It is place in some tea tree where my green singers, red siskins and gold finches all sit (in peace).

I am thinking its not the siskin as the male is quite young and only just colouring up...also I would rule out the gold finches due to their tenancy not to breed well in captivity.

I would be pretty happy if its the green singers though any of them would be quite good.

The relieving thing is it is not built right next to the wire so no birds can get them.

I'd say too big and messy for Red Siskins and probably a bit early just yet. Looks more like singers or maybe canaries, but I guess you'll know for sure in the next few days once eggs appear. And what's the black thing sticking up in the nest?

The black thing sticking up is a leg from the trellis....

I made a cavity perfectly below this but they decide to build there at the top....

It will the green singers first nest and at the time we ran out of feathers and it shows that's when nest construction died down...

The nest is about 1-2 days old and I have over stocked the aviary with swamp grass and feathers.

Love my cup nesters!

BTW: it wont be a canary unless my lone free flying male lizard has decided to go it alone. ill update you all shortly

False alarm

What seemed to be a cup nest very quickly transformed into a large dome!!

I only have two species that will do that..the zebs and the tir colours! I bet me aviary its not the tri colours too :(

On the plus side at least my canaries have started to lay
