Hi fellow Aff ers , does any one have any idea what this plant is and if its fruits are bird freindly.... Pete

It looks like some sort philodendron? Taste one Pete,usually if it's sweet it should be ok but better still google it. Craig

Hi Pete, It is a Fatsia or Fatshedera which is a cross between Fatsia and Ivy.

As most berries have evolved to be eaten by birds for seed dispersal it should be safe BUT some berries have evolved with their bird vectors and have developed toxins which over time the birds have developed immunity to. Tread cautiously or do some research to see if overseas birds eat them. I'll see if I can find out for you seeing you probably want to give them to your fruit doves. .

That s what I was thinking Tintola but with knowing what It is resarch it wasnt going anywhere near the birds. It grows at an old homested I work at during the week as it has few older type plants with some of it like a tropical garden... pete

I agree with Tint, Fatsia Japonica, in the UK its better known as a house plant under the more common name of False castor oil plant. Dont know if that name is any reflection on the effect it has on the body after eating some it.
