I guess those in the industry will know about the International Zoo and Aquarium Association Conference, themed ‘One Earth, One Deciding Decade’ on 28-30 August. I didn't know about it until the local ABC announced it started today and said they had a speaker talking about female parent determination of the sex in the offspring of birds. That sounds like Sarah Pryke's work. So if you're already at the Gold Coast it may be possible to go to relevant sessions. For details go to the Dream World site.

It would be an interesting conference to attend to see the perspective of Australian and international zoos regarding their roles in conservation and education versus entertainment.
