Does anyone have canaries breeding yet? It is warm enough and my cocks are singing their heads off.

I am still planning to wait another 2 weeks before introducing the cocks to the hens, probably the weekend of the 15/9/2012.

Also my Red Siskins have started to build in my outdoor aviary. The cock bird is showing who's boss.

I have one hen building her nest as we speak.

I have spent sometime preping her so I dont think that its too early to breed her.

Good luck

Every year people breed them early. I hope their results are good. Unfortunatly every year we hear about clear eggs and dead in shell.
Personally I never pair up before the middle or even the end of september. I still manage to breed about 70 to 80 per year with average nests of 3 or 4.
That is 12 pairs with 2 rounds and still finished by christmas.

Hi, I have not paired my german rollers yet. Also waiting for around the 15 September. I have started breeding them every year at this time with great success. Rather be the Tortoise( :worm: ) than being the Hare. :hare:

Hi Canary,

My hens are showing all the signs of wanting to breed but I won't let them. Not until this cold weather passes.

Cheers
