Suggstion 1) Have "new posts" link available on top of page for those on mobile devices who can't browse as easily/fast as others. Any new posts since the users last visit will be shown. Its a standard feature on most online discussion boards
Suggestion 2) Have classifieds section split into STATES or most used localities. This makes it easy for people to see what is in their local area and should ecourage local exchanges of info and goods. May be an idea to have an area for those willing to ship for the same reason.

Re the Classifieds, we do ask any member posting in this area to include in the heading which state they are in. Many times members advertising are willing to freight birds or sundry items in or out.

There was a thread somewhere suggesting this forum should consider supporting Tapatalk - a popular forum app for both Android and Apple gadgets. If this goes ahead it will likely solve all your problems (and more).

Tapatalk has indeed been suggested, we are now almost at our limit of 100 responses to the user survey (now on 95) and my health has been all over the shop again of late, should have the results analysed and presented in next few days.
I like seeing who's got what available and many of my birds have come from interstate. I'd rather the for sale stayed bunched with state in the topic - but wish some people would use more meaningful thread headings

Thanks for repllies and suggestions. After all that's what this section is for. I have found the New Posts link but I'm surprised it's not on each page. Consistency makes for ease of use and familiarity. The breadcrumb trail isn't that informative either. I say this respectfully as it could be more descriptive/useful.
Having local sellers together would drive forum activity although that may not be a goal?
There is also lots to like on this forum .

personally not that many people actually sell things on here, so there shouldnt be a real need to sift through more than one page to find something local... thats current anyways....to me it just adds to the joy of reading the forum....pete

That's an interesting view. So would making changes to encourage more forum traffic, attracting more forum use and new members be encouraged? Anything promoting local interaction such as meets, swaps, aviary visits etc is going to drive forum usage me thinks ? However, if buying and selling is not really a priority when why have it at all? I suppose if other places offer better buy & sell then people will go there?

I think most offer their birds/birdy stuff to forum members first..if no luck then they take them elsewhere..And if you want to buy/sell elsewhere nobody says you can'tfishdance wrote:That's an interesting view. The Forsale and wanted section are there because it does serve a purpose for many , I have used it to buy and sell birds , it gives forum members the opportunity to buy and sell to other members , some only come here for the sale section and nothing else, others here to talk birds but its each to their own .
No matter what it does serve the purpose and not everyone has birds to sell all the time , our member list is relativly small (1440) most might prefer to use a local trading mart for a broader market. Like Vettepilot said its for members of the forum not general public , thats what petlink and gumtree is for, we couldnt compete against them.
But you will find the longer you stay on the forum the more locals you will become familiar with and will be able to liaise with those with the same interest, like us westies over here have the occaisional Bbq as a social gathering , thats how we go about it ... pete
