wondering if people sell these contraptions? Or is it easy enough to DIY ? Loved to see step by step photos of how to do it please

I built a box last week and have some flies going, but the temperatures have been lower than I would like inside the box (rarely above 22 degrees, often lower) so I have a bit of tweaking to do.

I covered the front of the fly box with a heavy blanket or towel which helped regulate the temperature variations experienced especially during winter.

Ruth, if your relatively handy or know someone that is then get yourself down to the local recycle centre and get some materials that you can use to build a fly box. They need not be complicated ( is have seen a cut down 20l water drum with a fly screen font used successfully). I made mine out of 10 old window fly screen frames approx $8, a piece of scrap ply for the back board and a old lamp fitting also from the recycle centre ($2). Susbsequently I also picked up a reptile thermostat at the same centre a few months latter ($5) and so now have 2 fly boxes running on a thermostat. Although they are covered in fly screen I regulate the temp in winter using some old carpet to cover the top/side and front. I run it at 28C. All up while the commmercial ones look good they are also very expensive. Surely soemone can help you out.

Ruth, as an aside the one fault I can see with teh borgs brooder is the front door and the gap it has between the door and the surrounding frame. This will leak flies and is something that will be blamed on you by anyone who has a fly problem even if they are not yours.
