Orange breast problem

Between this morning and this afternoon my female OB has become 'fluffed' up and looks weakened. The male is I believe sitting on a new set of egg(s). Interestingly the pair have just recently fledged one young that they then abandoned and which died yesterday. In previous times they have been excellent parents and I am wondering if they (or at least the female) reached its use by date. I do not know what age they were when I bought them 2 years ago. Although looking weakened the female is eating and drinking and I am suspecting it may be eggbound. Any comments anyone?

Do you have a hospital cage you can put her in? If not bring her inside in a warm spot overnight. Make sure there is plenty hens agog shells and cuttlebone in your aviary, check the cuttlebone has new beak marks in it sometimes the don't like a piece for some reason or another. So I change it and throw the unused piece in the bucket for grit.

Hope this helps

If she is eggbound...heat is first thing and also a dose of liquid calcium...then leave her be in quiet area
