After a week full of bad fortune regarding some of my birds I was finally greeted with the sight of broken egg shells this afternoon.
Soon to follow was five little furry marbles running around the aviary.
seems like the hen is still sitting tight in the nest so hopefully a few more come through.
I immediately reduced the water in all the ground level containers and put some twigs to help them get in and out of the water dish.
Am I two assume to yellow will grow to be silver and the darker will grow to be normal?
Finally baby quail (5 so far!)

Congrats!!!
glad things are looking up!!
Just check the yellow one, if it has reddish stripes on the back it's cinnamon, if it's pure yellow it's silver

They must have hatched during the day today as I checked the nest yesterday evening while the hen was out and about and there was still eggs only.Harvey11 wrote:Thats great, and my sister loves those pics.![]()
Did the babies hatch during the day???
I hope to have Quail babies anyday now,
Harv
I only hope I can keep them from drowning now...I hear they are experts at that.
not too sure if ill get silvers or cinnamons as my trio are all normal coloured. I will have to look out for the red as suggested above.
Good luck Harvey

Congrats elferoz
. Baby quail are so cute. I don't care how un-masculan that is
. Good luck keeping them out of the water. I have a nest due to hatch in about 10 days, so I better start thinking about baby-proofing too!!
