I just picked up x2 pair of normal Zebs - offspring from Healsville Sanctuary wild caught colony from D.Pace. I have not had Zebs for 25 years, rapt to get Normals from Healsville.

New Zeb's trashed Emblema's nest on day two in aviary, (5 eggs due to hatch next Monday) - cannot say I'm totally happy.Thought this may happen - but - didn't listen to self.

Yes you should have listened to your self as i can't see any reason to put zebs being wild type or coloured in with your other birds, they are distructive little blighters. The only way to keep them is in a small colony by them selves and give them your waste seed otherwise they will double your seed bill. How would someone have a wild caught colony? I thought it was illegal to catch wild birds or does he have a license to do so?

I had one main who would sit and eat a whole bowl of meal worms alone.
He would fight off my goldfinches for the worms
He didnt die though his fitness wasnt the best, when ever i entered the aviary he would do two laps and be panting like mad.

I remember having a colony of wildtype Zebras fromthe Melbourne Zoo. It seemed to me that they flocked together more visibly than domesticated strains. They seemed to fly as a group from one end of the aviary to the other. Very sociable.
