Have just spent a few days in Kalbarri and spent a few hours at the Rainbow Jungle parrot breeding centre. It was great, lots of species of parrots, and a huge walk in aviary. It was really well done, lots of years of work would have gone into that, and I made a mental note of a few small lorrikets that we may consider one day when we get back into birds. Scarlets, mulga parrots, littles and purple crown (I think that was the name). They also had a small aviary with BH gouldians, stars and painteds). Made us miss our birds but we know we will get back to it one day.
The business (parrots, shop and outdoor cinema) are up for sale, for any parrot enthusiasts looking for a sea change! ;-)

cheers, Case, Tauranga, New Zealand.

Oh, had no idea. No we didn't talk to anyone. We have been into finches but know nothing about parrots, although as I said some of them certainly captivated my attention for the future. :-)

No wonder at $4.5M  . That's way more than current land value and profit margin would be pretty low for the amount of work involved.

I knew the pricetag and the fact that birds are a tie. Would stop me from going into the outback 6 months of every year.

Haven't been to Kalbarri since 1975 & parrot park wasn't there then

Lovely little spot

In '75 you could have bought the whole town . . and got change . . for $4.5M

Price of real estate up that way has rather gone through the roof, over the past 5 or so years. But starting to settle again now.
Not a bad business for an extended family. (senior and junior couples) Could take it turn and turn about to run business and galivant off. But need to talk the price down first. Did you also have a look at the Greenough Wildlife park? It has improved somewhat over recent years too. Both still getting there, but successful works in progress.

Didn't see the wildlife park. We went to one last year or the year before, it might be the one you are thinking of. The croc was out of commission as they were building a new enclosure from memory. This time we didn't stop around Gero or Greenough.

That would be the one. Dingos, Croc, Camels, roos and of course birds.
