I have a GOULDIAN hen with what appears to be an infection ulcer in the corner of her beak.its slightly swollen and weeps yellow
She has been isolated and is on antibiotics,any ideas?

The most likely causes are either yeast infection, protozoal parasite infection or an infected wound.
A picture would help but sometimes you need to take a smear from the mouth and look at it under the microscope to tell the difference.
If it is one of those 3 possibilities, they each require a different treatment (typical, isn't it!!)

Hospital cage is good but why on Antibiotics if you don't know what it is? IMO this only lowers birds immune system for when correct treatment is given...

So true VP.

In this example if the lesion is caused by a yeast/fungal infection then antibiotics will only make it worse so keep a close eye on it.

The bird is fine otherwise nice and healthy. Stopped the antibiotics,done a bit of research, got her on the turbosole
