No words can describe these guys- absolutely amazing. Make most of our birds look dead boring in comparison.

However, they did get one fact wrong. New Guinea is not the only home of Birds of Paradise. Wallace's Standardwing is endemic to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia and our very own riflebirds are found here in Australia as well as in NG.

Seeing that sort of footage in the flesh would have to be one of THE highlights of the natural world. Lucky buggers (but well earned- it is hard work trekking through that habitat)

you have to marvel at those courtship displays....outstanding!
its good to know there are still birds to aspire to....even you tintola. however i think they are happy in their element. :thumbup:

Beautiful. Thank goodness they live in such inaccessible places that no one has destroyed their habitat before we learnt better.

Looks like that book would be a good Xmas pressie.
Would love to be able to spend months in the rainforest just photographing birds !

omg this is absolutely beautiful , i was in utter awe.I never knew Birds like this existed . Thank you for sharing that ! And yes too true Finchbreeder hopefully Mankind doesnt ruin it for them
