Sweet tooothed redbrow

The scarlet honeyeaters seemed to have assimilated well to the feeding station in the cage so today they went out in to the aviary, complete with feeding station. Within 5 minutes one of the redbrows was checking out the nectar and returned multiple times during the afternoon for another sip.

He'd better fly hard to work off all that extra sugar :lol: . I've never seen any mention of redbrows taking nectar but he had a good go at the bottlebrush flowers I put in for the honeyeaters as well.

It just goes to show that many of our birds will eat a greater range of food items than what we might expect.

Wild Redheads often eat flowers, particularly Banksia sp.
