Shellgrit in Seed: What do people think about Shellgrit added to seed, personally I hate it & think it is dangerous, because it isnt food, & over time the seed dish looks full, but has only grit & the birds starve It has good intentions, but misdirected

I just feed shell grit in a separate dish away from the dish of seed

What brands of shellgrit are people using?

I use very fine oyster shell grit mixed with charcoal
