Ive had 3 clutches of painteds fledge in the last month and another clutchon the way and looking in the main aviary today and saw at least 3 newly fledged BR Double Bars :)
Not had any sucess with my RFPFS or my Tricoloureds though...not sure why? RFPFS will hatch and then a few days later the chicks are dead :( Tir coloureds build and build and lay but never commence serious sitting. Is there omething else I should be doing? They get greens, plenty of nesting material and nesting boxes, they are in a 6x3x2 m aviary with other quiet species.
Any advice?

My TCPFs are the same.

I found that some goulds and zebs were getting to them and stressing them out. Once I removed these and limited my goulds to one pair in that aviary they settled.

I also keep well away from the nest.

I will let you know in 10 days or so whether or not my TCPFs have done well.

The trick I found is to give them plenty of brush to hide in and give them plenty of privacy.

Good luck

Going by where you live (Kunnunarra) i think you will have problems breeding parrot finches, they are tropical rain forest birds.I have been watching your temperatures hovering around 40 degs, maybe you will have better luck during your comming wet season. Just a thought. Craig
