You should have perhaps mentioned if it was needed within forty-eight hours....

I pay between 20 and 26 dollars for 20kg bag of finch mix, but more often I swap excess birds with petshops for bulk seed.
I don't have any south coast contacts for seed, bit I'm sure others do.

Hi BG, I think quantities required to reduce the price on seed is significant. Even then I'm not sure how big a percentage the price reduces when say you buy a tonne of seed. I have previously paid between 22 to 25 per 20 kg bag for avigrain. I am now using seed from Peter Slade from Quindi, when I buy from the produce store it is 33 for a 25kg bag and 28 from him directly. This best price you are likely to get on seed is from bird sales. Another option is through your bird club.

Some of the bigger breeders on the forum might be able to inform you how cheap seed can get on bulk orders.

Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian and gomer for you input. Great to get replies from breders who know what they are talking about.
The query isn't for me, it's for my old man. Ill pass on the info and let him deal with it.

There really isn't much info on the web regarding this. Even when entering a few names in.

Gomer, were you happy with the quality of your supplier?
Cheers

Yes I was happy with it.He delivered to Melbourne a pallet $70.And I organised delivery from there to here. You pay for a pallet delivery,So if you get 20 kgs its $70 delivered to Melbourne if you get 1000 kgs $70 to Melbourne. When I say Melbourne I mean his carriers depot.

It's not much point in someone commenting when they live in WA or where I get my seed from as to freight it would be difficult.
With freight,GST etc you should be able to get it for under $25 per 20kg bag (mixed seed)if you buy a pallet load(50 bags)
You would most likely get it for the same price getting only 25 bags but your freight % per bag would increase as you would most likely
be charged the Tone rate. The best method it share a shipment.

Hey BG,
What sort of money are you paying now?
What sort of quantity are you talking when you say bulk?
I can organise cheap freight from Sydney for you if that helps...
I just bought a couple if bags (20kg each) for $20 each as they hadit on special last month.
It was Avigrain re bagged as their own brand and its not a bad mix...
Elanbee at Seven Hills might do you a deal and I can pick up from there for you if you wanted...
Just let me know if I can help...
Cheers,
Tim

I'm looking at buying 20kg of Avigrain Finch Blue for $25. Is this any good?
