I saw a picture of a baby Isabel star today that looks very similar to yours. Not a mutation I think we have here, but be awesome if one popped up!!

I agree with Jayburd (for my two cents). I was thinking the same thing when I saw these Isabel Star Finch images of Roy Beckhams (eFinch) on Facebook recently

Here is his actual website (USA)
http://www.efinch.com/species/star.htm

I am not aware of the Isabel Star in Australia either. Roy Beckham says that the Isabel is "Sex Linked" as per the captions on the site.
Quote
"The Isabel mutation in Star Finches is sex-linked so you'll find more females than males. It dilutes the green color. Here it is in the normal Red Face, but I think it is quite attractive when combined with Yellow Face."

All Copyright remains with Roy Beckham and I am sure that he would not mind the plug ;-)

Cheers

I'm sure he wouldn't mind the plug, but you also need permission :!:

I noticed today that the beak has started to turn reddish.
It's siblings beaks are doing the same.
The siblings are also showing coloured feathers on the face and spotting on the breast, but this pale one still looks exactly as pictured above except with a reddish beak.

Curious...

Not that I know of, but we had a tenant about eight years ago when I still lived down the coast, who had a boyfriend who was a fiery roo-shooter with an unrestrained love of amphetamines. There were (predictably) some dramas, but eventually we managed to evict them (not as easy as it may sound!). On the night they left, Brian (that was (and presumably still is) his name) returned to the property and dug up a military-style ammo case that had been buried in the potato patch.

I had wondered what was in that case (illegal firearms and amphetamines, I had presumed): now I can see clearly that the case contained DANGEROUS MUTAGENIC SUBSTANCES which have leached out and CONTAMINATED MY ESTATE, probably POISONING MY CHILDREN. Mercifully, it has had the unexpected side effect of creating novel avicultural mutants, so I don't think I'll clean it up...

Pied lutino crimsons, anyone?

I love the idea of a Blue Star Finch and it stands to reason that it is possible (any Green bird could potentially have a Blue Mutation....potentially). I've heard the odd mention of a Turquoise Star locally at a dealers (possibly the same if not similar) but the Blue hasn't been given much attention for development it seems.
If it ever does get put on the Map, I hope it's with a bit more patience than the Blue Gouldian.
I'm yet to see a picture of what I think it possibly would look like. The only ONE so far is in my copy of "The Encyclopedia of Estrildid Finches" and I'm not sure if that is quite what we would have. I would have thought that it would have an almost White face mask rather than the Red/Yellow, but that one has almost no Mask at all but is probably because it appears to be a Hen, also it is fairly greyish looking in the picture.

Cheers
