Hi all,
My zebras laid an egg (only one so far as I can tell). I keep them in my second bedroom which is a room I hardly ever go into.
I have been taking their cage out to my balcony periodically so they can get some unfiltered sunshine but I wonder if I should stop doing this so as not to cause too much disturbance.

Zebs are a great bird to start with, I started with them like many others I know, Zeb & bengales are birds you normally can handle there eggs even handle there chicks & the parents don't normally leave the young if you do this, but all pairs are different I suppose, you might just get a touchy pair, if your worried don't touch them, but I have never had a pair of my bengales leave the nest if I touch eggs or babies, but I haven't interfered as much with zebs as much as I have with Bengalese, I often move eggs around on them or chicks, like when I bred Canaries in a big way, I use to move fertile eggs under an infertile pair or if too many young in one nest I would move a couple, same as bengalese, I had 8 babies one time in a nest & two in another so every day I moved 1 chick to the other nest & balanced them out & I didn't lose 1 baby.
So there fairly forgiving of interfering with them, but if your worried, don't move them, birds can go a little while without sunlight, most canary & Budgie breeders & other box breeders, put there birds in bird rooms for the breeding season with no ill effect.

I agree with BlackCobra.
Birds that are moved around a lot often won't settle to sit on their eggs so I would leave them where they are until the young hopefully have fledged.

Or leave them where they are and give them vitamin D in there diet.

Good suggestion about putting Vitamin D in their diet. I will try to disturb them as little as possible.
