Has anyone else out there noticed that there Quails answer when an ambulance goes by in the distance with its sirens going. Alsways amusing "There go the Quails again.. must be an ambulance somewhere".
Also have a number of baby canaries fledging but doesn't seem to be much else happening in the aviary at this time.
The Mealworms also have dropped off alot at this stage I have 2 breeding boxes happening, even topped up the Beetles (Thanks Dad, Greg) but not much activity.
That's about it at the moment. Cheers all

Never noticed that with my quails, but my long tails used to go mad every time the yellow tailed black cockies flew over - it makes you start to wonder about bird languages, if they even have them, if they can mistake oer noises for their own calls...

To the Chemist, check the temperature of the Mealworms maybe too hot or cold. Over 30c they struggle under 25c they stop.

Thanks, yes the quails can be noisy but I like it ( besides the far enough from house) got to be better than revving cars, fighting cats and barking dogs. he mealworms could be temperature but in Perth at moment think range is ok. he stupid canaries have let babies out of nest too early, could have been the storm earlier this week, have lost one and two have "adopted" quails nest as a good spot to be looked after. Will keep an eye on but have never had much success hand rearing unfortunately.

When I lived in a flat in Sydney I had Zebs & a pair Kingquails in my Lounge room in this oriental looking cage I made, I also had lots Canaries on the enclosed verandah, but the king quails would crow all damn night, lol I didnt even think about it when I bought them, needless to say they had to go.

Yes live within ear shot of local hospital ...Sirens set off Quails and dogs . The emergency care flight helicopter flies directly over and can upset the birds if they are flying a little low .
