Like I said I know nothing of budgies . The first "violet " was vivid and much darker than these . Had a white face .

Although nice colours...I must be colour blind as I always thought this was Violet http://pfieldwalker.wordpress.com/2011/ ... re-violet/ from all the Budgies I have seen they are shades of blue to mauve? Does anyone have pictures of Violets?

Which is why I did say I have no knowledge of budgies .
The first one I bred was vivid almost like the flower pictured .... The darkest one here I have been told is a light violet ???
To me they are just pretty budgies , its others that tell me the colours .

Violets are really hard to photograph the colour often doesn't show properly, no idea why must have something to do with the way the colour is produced!
This was the only violet I had (but I want to produce more) https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 8366_n.jpg

Back in the 60's when the old man used to breed budgies for the show bench, the violets we had were a deep violet colour with a redish sheen, more like the cadbury colour. Like the spangles by the way Deb.

O had a photo of a true voliet budgie went to me and I swear it looked blue ..agreed the viloet does not show up well on photos and I dare say those that do have been photoshopped .
