Grey Singers, are these still around in numbers? And are they breeding well for the breeders that have them? And if anyone has any contacts for them? Want to change from Green Singers to the Greys. ( Dad and myself ).

I believe these guys are done, 2 years ago I heard of a breeder near BNE had 6/7 old birds left.

Although I would love to hear differently.

I have heard of a guy who has roughly 40 pair....

mind you a colleague from my finch club mentioned this and gave me no other evidence that they exists.

If it helps he is not a twit generally and I kind of think his story works out

Interesting that he has 40 pr and yet none have been offered for sale.

My info is the same as Luke's and that they are almost done, although I did hear of a few pr offered for sale 2 yrs ago but nothing since.

I know that Marcus Pollard was chasing them some time back to no avail & has essentially given up.

Of course I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

I have also heard these whispers, I am however skeptical.

Can anyone validate this?

With all due respect I wouldn't be too concened about looking for them.
I doubt if there would have been 40 pair in Aust. 20 years ago let alone now.

I was chasing Greys 10 / 15 years ago and rang a chap I knew had some in S.A.

He told me that he was down to one, which he was prepared to give to me, but he couldn't help me with a mate for it . . obviously, I suppose, or he would have had 2 himself

As far as I am aware that bird would have died a lonely death in S.A. many years ago

I think it is 'curtains' for these birds in Oz :rain:

I have heard nsw...

I am skeptical too unless this guy is planning to sell them for his retirement...

I think any that are left would be crossed with the green singers

There are still a couple of pairs but they are really struggling and in desperate trouble.
