I thought my painted finches had abandoned their second nest this season. I was in there cleaning today and about to clean out their old nests when I discovered 4 babies in the nest. Very happy, fingers crossed as these are my first finch babies ever after years of budgies.

Leave them be. Better safe than sorry. As long as you can see them, that's all that matters.

Hubby and I are new finch lovers and have built a large aviary for them, about 35 square meters.
We have eight pairs of different finches in there including Painteds.
I read on another post about Painted babies coming out of the nest early. If they are not ready to fly how do
they survive the fall from their nest? How do we help them?
Ours are not showing signs of nesting yet but have only been in their new planted aviary two weeks.
