Do we have a section were we have all the finches, softbills, ect that are in Australia, I have seen people mention some birds & I didn't even know we had them in Australia, it would be nice to have a list of all & what they eat & a approximate price & how rare they are.

Nice as it would be to have such a list, I doubt very much you'll be able to find (or make) one.
The rarity of a species changes constantly
The price of a species changes from area to area (a good general list can be found in the species profiles)
There could be anything out there, as proved by E Orix the other day in the lavender finch topic

If you wanted a basic idea, I'd check out the QFS/NFSA census :)

Not a bad topic to start.

I was talking to one of my friends today that has been in finches a hell of a long time, we were talking about some finches getting rarer & inbreeding, he was saying in the hunter there was so many red & green strawbs that that the prices dropped to $30 at one stage, when I moved up here around 25 years ago there was tons, but my friend told me a person had gone around all the aviaries & paid a very high price for all the srawbs & he shipped them all overseas, the local dealer is still sending birds overseas & to Melboure.
He was also saying that another big breeder here was saying all the cordons are inbreeding as theres been no new blood for a long time, I know the local dealer here was sending cordons overseas, if all keep going over seas were going to be short of some birds soon.

Hi blackcobra yes I heard that as well but I was living in perth when I heard this so it must have been australia wide that he bought up all the strawberries, and that is right. we complain about birds going rare or extinct in ausralian aviarys but with people exporting them whats the point.

The local dealer here sends them to Melbourne & I think they go overseas, I know he sends all the Cordons he can get his hands on & other types.
Its damn annoying soon we will be running short of many types.

There was a discussion previously about finches being exported by dealers BlackCobra but unfortunately I can't seem to locate it.

Perhaps someone else can help.

This topic is really about what finches that we have here in Australia, & got onto the topic of exporters as it means to me we might lose some of our finches we already have, I know some are so scarce now.
