Zebra finch sex?

the brown sides with white dots is it a sign of a male zebra finch or it goes for both sex?

Hi Shanny. Zebs are one of the easies birds to sex as they are visibly sexually dimorphic as shown in the photo above. As you suggested the males have the spots on their flanks while the females don't. They also have the chestnut ear coverts, chest bars and white bellies; they sing and dance too. Some of the mutants might not show the differential coloration but they will still show the behavioural differences.

was in pet shop yesturday brought 6 ask about sex cause was confused 2 with orange beaks with the flanks spotted i post pics in the other thread

Mostly the same for each Standard Zebra or Mutation, excapt
Charcoal Cocks do not have cheek patches
Red Hens will most of the time have cheek patches but still does not have the Flank markings
Whites have none of the above at all
All cock birds will have Flank markings except White Cocks
So you can not mix up the sexes of Zebras you should know when you buy them straight away what sex you have.
Not sure if i have missed anything.
Breeding Show Zebra Finches, Blue Gouldians, Pied Orange Breast.

even pet shop seller said 4 males and 2 females my 2 silver ones she said they was
