Shanny I would cook the boiled egg, cut in half and place in cage, any left over boiled eggs are left whole and placed in fridge, they will keep for a couple of days.

When I feed my birds egg shell I zap it in the microwave for 3min.
Others bake them in the oven.

shanny2, I'm just wondering if you know that birds eat egg shells? Gouldians love them.
I don't know if other forum members practice this.

boil them shell and all
cut in half and serve them up
cook them an extra minute or two if your worried about the shell needing to be sterilised ( I think that's your point )

I give mine jap quail eggs like this all the time ( when laying )

Egg shells are an excellent source or calcium. You can take shells from eggs you use in cooking or for any other purpose. You dont need to boil the shells, but you do need to bake them in an oven for 5-10 minutes or "cook" in a microwave for 3-4 minutes. I put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high, let them rest for a few minutes then another 2 minutes on high. All finches will take egg shells.

I use half boiled egg every day. What I do I boil eggs (4 to 6) let them cool down then put them in a fridge. Every morning I cut an egg in half (with the shell) I then remove the shell, chop up the egg half and mix it with 3 Scotch Finger biscuits. The egg shell half I do not microwave I just remove the thin membrane, crush it and give it to the birds but you can microwave if you like.
