Parrot finch 1st day.jpg
last Friday (4th January) was so hot in Melbourne (somewhere over 40C). I suspected any birds that still had young might lose them. Sure enough one of my Red Faced Parrot finch pairs had young and tossed them out. They were so young that their eyes were not open and they had no feathers.
I put them all in a plastic tub with a rough nest I made and the parents continued to feed them. There were 4 originally one was much smaller than the other 3 and it died a few days after. But the other 3 are still going 8 days later. It has been quite warm since so that has helped their cause.

Hope those babies hang on for you. It's always good to hear of birds that make it through hard circumstances. Good luck!

just an update.
The 3 surviving parrot finches have left their tupperware dish on the floor and are now flying. It looks good for them and the weather has been their friend.
