Great work, Westie.
What live food are they getting?

After having the last 2 nests from each pair of Red Crested not hatching due to the very high temp. our weather has been milder no where near the highs of recent time.
One pair of Red Crested had three eggs hatched and fledged the three and within a couple of days they had built about 200mm
from the old nest and they are incubating again.
The second pair had 2 eggs, hatched one and it has fledged but I haven't noticed if they are sitting again.
So the season for Red Crested's hasn't been a disaster after all

this is the last of two red crested chicks that fledged this week . they hatched one day apart but fledged six days apart . one day makes a big difference to growth rates .

They seem to fledge too early and always look under done. The parents realy try to hide them well for the first week or so.
The only way I know that chicks are around is the constant visiting of the parents to the live food container.

If the price is any indication, the numbers must be reasonable . .
