Hi all, trialling a new biological control system for Mickey Birds and Buthcer Birds around the avairy . He chooses this location most days to sun himself and to conduct his head bobbing to attract a mate. Avairy members dont seem to worry about him.

What an awesome sight .

Just one thing to maybe be concerned about is reptiles carry salmonella > wonder if it can be passed to the birds at all ?

Just saying as I was told to scrub my hands after handling my own reptiles and before handling my birds for this reason .

I seem to be asking a lot of dumb questions of late but when I first read the term " mickey bird" I thought " mouse bird" but they are not what you mean, are they. So, here's the dumb question: what is a mickey bird?

I asked the same question when I moved up to Qld...
...like NSWmen and their quarrions!

I have to keep reminding them that Sydney is not the centre of the universe...( as he ducks for cover)!!

When I was a kid every bird had a nick-name . . very few were referred to by their 'proper' name

Noisy Miners were 'soldier birds' or more often 'squeakers' or 'quea-queas' . . only a few people called them 'mickey-miners' or 'mickey-birds'

They were mainly bush birds, but in places like Brisbane they are now becoming pests in suburbia and are driving out other bird species

And the only good thing to come out of Sydney is the road to Queensland . .

And just by the way . .

Who's got the pub down there now

Its nice to dream Trilobote but that guy wont scare the pest birds for more than a few days. He`s no great threat unfortunately, if he was your birds would be going ape s--t by now.If your finches arent fussed ????? You need a Perenti
