For those breeding silver kings, what is the mode of inheritance you are observing??

No idea yet but just to put my data on the table if no one can answer, from normal female and silver male, I've been getting silvers in both male and female and normals in both sexes. So by that I assume it is not sex linked.

Recessive. If my memory is correct - which can be a less than reasonable assumption.

I believe they are autosomal recessive and my breedings over the years support this.
However, I remember an article many moons ago by Brian O'Gorman in which he reckoned it was sex-linked.
I still think I'm right tho!!

Interestingly, the mutation started out as sex linked but it appears that a second recessive mutation has eveolved and the sex linked form has been enveloped and perhaps lost. Does anybody know of anyone that still has the sex linked form?? The same has happened with other mutations (e.g. sex linked vs recessive lutino ringnecks).

Lutino ringnecks have only ever been sex-linked receessive to my knowledge. Do you know differently Danny?

According to our mutual friend there was once a recessive form but it vanished it the mix.

I have also heard of an autosomal recessive lutino in both IRNs and budgerigars.

My Silver Kings have always seemed to be recessive not sex linked.

I think the recessive lutino Indian Ringneck is avaialable overseas, but not here.

As for the silver king quail, I too have heard conflicting stories. I wonder if we compared the two birds ie recessive and sex-linked, whether they would be identical or have differences. Getting guaranteed birds of either may be a problem, I suppose.
