Not suggesting that you donate without doing some research, just showing the movie clip because its about birds and what can happen to them on an island thousands of miles away from so called civilization.

I know I have watched this link before and I think it was here. But yes we should all think very carefully before chucking anything non organic, and teach our kids to do the same. Maybe this film should be compulsory viewing.

I agree we must protect our world but until the population of Sth East Asia and some other areas start doing it our Oceans etc are virtually doomed.
The population of these countries just don't give a RATS. It is staggering what they pour into the Oceans and Rivers which eventually also spill into the Bays.
It's not just a throwaway culture it's I couldn't care less or they are uneducated on the outcome situation.
There are millions living in villages along waterways, what they throw in the water doesn't matter because once it is out of site it is gone to them.
Many don't move 10kms from their villiages so they just don't know the compounding problem.
Not so long ago a watched a man, knee deep in mud and slim collecting shellfish to eat, this was at the end of the runway at Bali Airport.
The mangrove is so polluted I wouldn't even go there yet he was collecting food for his family. He just didn't(I presume).

Couldn't hear the commentary so am I correct in assuming the island is situated near a current coming from the mainland ?????
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

The Midway Islands are in the middle of the Pacific at a point where the global oceanic currents meet. There is talk of a giant garbage island in this area also, the size of this garbage island varies depending on the source of information.
