Had a young, unrung chestnut in the holding cage look a bit off colour for the last couple of days. Decided to catch it out this morning. Feeling the body condition of the bird I would assume that it was struggling to crack seed.

The ring was so tightly entrenched within the beak that it couldn't be extracted with tweezers. Ended up carefully cutting it away. Now to find out which bird was rung yellow 17!
