Just curious does anyone keep skylarks

I wish I could locate some more, I miss them from my collection.

how much do they usually go for

Could it be possible to get a license to take birds from the wild then catch a few pairs of them

CC, you don't need a license to trap skylarks, as they are feral.

are there more then one species of skylark

Nope, just the one. But there are bushlarks etc. which are native, and can't be trapped.

Before you go out and try and get some(tell me where as well ) just remember they are not like your normal run of seed eater.
Their flying habit is so different, while they have the ability to fly horizontally like most birds their first preference is to soar and take off vertically.
By doing this they will hit the aviary roof and at times seem to bounce up and down from the roof wire.
Wild birds need their 3,4,5 and 6th. primary feathers pulled(not cut) from ONE wing, in the short time it takes for these feathers to grow back the birds have learnt about aviary life. I have seen them kept in medium size aviaries but I have only kept them in my big aviary. Must admit they are different but so interesting and the male sings beautifully through the warmer months.
