Any idea of the current status of Redpolls in Australia? One has been reported at Inskip Point, qld. There is a suggestion that it may be an escapee.
I know that they are very rare, but do they even still exist in aviaries in Australia?
Cheers Ian

Gday Ian, What is the source of the report??? If redpolls were thriving at Inskip point to the point that they are now being spotted then there is hope for the population in Australia. I think maybe someone spotted a Myzomelia perhaps. The climate at Inskip point is not conducive for Redpolls but hey I am more then happy to be proven wrong and have someone rub my noise in it - for the sake of the birds.

Jayburd, what happened to you post? I agree that it is most likely ship assisted.
What also happened to Trilobites follow up comment?
Any other comments on the status of captive redpolls in Australia?
Cheers Ian

No idea where our posts went.... Must have gone for a wonder
In case they don't come back, I said that I thought it most likely the bird had been a stowaway on board a ship
