Those that are buying pre-mixed seed, what brands are reliably good quality nowadays? I was using golden cob which is great, but getting a bit expensive so I started buying avigrain blue which was not too bad at the start, but the last 2 lots have been crap. full of dust and odd bits and pieces in it. I should be mixing my own, but I cant be bothered now.

Agree avigrain is cr*p, it is dusty and looks to have a lot of cracked and damaged seed in it. I find crest seeds are good quality and nice and clean - use them in the off season supplies. I then ask the local produce agency to mix up my mix according to my ratios in 20kg lots and works out to be under a $1.5 kg for your own blend and has always been fresh.

The old brand called Vitrex seed (cleaned twice) is available from Greensborough Grainstore. It's very good.

Do they still call it Vitrex?

You ask for the Vitrex product when you buy.
