Ive been sourcing Gouldians in my local area that have been aviary bred and used to the weather conditions somewhat......
Found a breeder that has Australian White front Gouldians but are bit pricey for me so he has told me about a fella that has European White fronts ...this is where the confusion comes in.....Are not all gouldians either Australian or New Guinea natives????????
Anyone out there know and care to tell me as its got me wondering....cheers

From what i know from the yellow white fronts, the difference between Aussie and european is the the aussie one has green in the yellow on its back, where the european is all yellow back, hope this helps, i have heard the the aussie one is harder to get

yes they are native only to Australia.but mutations have been developed around the world hence the name european yellows.there are over 680 different variations of the gouldian.which im sure alot would not be available in Australia.

well the australian yellows are a recessive and the european yellows are sexed linked. Brad359 will be able helpexplain this more if he sees it

as gomer said gouldians are only native to aus but lots of mutations breed world wide. european yellow is a sex linked co doinant mutation .
males can be double factor yellow white around neck or single factor yellow to lime green blue around neck,females are single factor yellow birds.

australian yellow is a autosomal recessive mutation you can breed coloured birds from split and colour or from 2 split birds
australian yellow can have pure yellow backs or heavy varigated backs and varigation can get less with every molt they are a very atractive bird

Sweet as ...I get it now its not the place the bird is native to but place of that mutation being developed..
The Aussie breeder did say they breed true thus the hefty price tag ..... Thanx all you did well lol

also european yellows are alot more established mutation then australian yellows

i got a pr of aust yellows that was a split hen and aust yellow for $70
then also the 2 young birds for $20 each
but was of a mate but i dont think he knew they were aust yellows though
but then bought a pr for $100 and got a free pr aswell from another guy that had bout 100 of them i was really happy

that was a good deal normal price in w.a. is around $100 for a colour and around $50 for a split but have droped a bit the last season.
how much are they going for in other states.
