Not too worried about the lawns when it comes to the crows foot VR1Ton
so long as my diamonds keep hoofing it down and kicking out 4s and 5s im happy
I have mine in a pot so ill keep it contained
Thankyou for the ID
With the grass you call "sweet panic" does it happen to have a pleasant aromatic smell to it on warm days ?
I am thinking that it is Arundinella Spicata (common name not found) very similar would you agree
Many thanks Wagga will look into the dvd you mention .
You have put me out of my misery regarding type 3 when I googled hairy panic I found the exact grass that I have in Panicum Effusum , but type 4 is most definitely not green panic (I have several large pots of GP). it only grows to around 6 inches in height but the seed heads are disproportionate to the grass itself with the heads towering upto 10 inches higher than the tussocks some measuring over 14 inches in height
I am thinking it is Arundinella Spicata ??
As I have not yet used it in the aviary is the general consensus to stay away from Parramatta grass ?
Would love to nail down type 5 and its scientific name ... I think tiaris might be right that its gatton panic , how ever small differences make me wonder which Panic it is ?
Cheers to all who took the time to comment I really appreciate the help
For future reference of others looking for scientific or common names of the grasses Identified .....
Type 1. Crows Foot (Eleusine Indica)
Type 2. Parramatta Grass (Sporobolus Creber)
Type 3. Hairy Panic (Panicum Effusum)
Type 4. Arundinella Spicata ????
Type 5. Gatton Panic (Megathyrsus maximum)
All of the above grasses except for Parramatta I have used and recommend trialling if you have not yet done so .
Once again thanks to all
